Our website is being gradually updated as we transition to our new school identity. As a result, during the 2023-24 academic year you will find a combination of legacy ‘Guernsey Grammar School & Sixth Form Centre’ documents and updated ‘Les Varendes High School & Sixth Form Centre’ information.

School Day

Formal registration and tutorial time begins at 8.30 am and it is imperative that students arrive beforehand, leaving enough time to start promptly.

Students will meet with their tutor for 20 minutes at the beginning of each school day.  Tutor groups typically contain approximately 16 students and this quality time will enable students to work alongside each other following a tutorial programme.

Applying for a School place

School admissions for places in Years 7-11, including 'out-of-catchment' placements, are managed by the States of Guernsey, Education Office.  In the first instance, we would recommend that you contact them at schooladmissions@gov.gg or telephone 01481 224000.  Further information is also supplied on their website www.gov.gg/schooladmissions where information concerning the moving process can also be found.

Admission to our Sixth Form (Years 12 & 13) is managed by the Sixth Form Centre.  Please email us at sixthform@grammar.sch.gg or telephone 01481 226571.  Further details are available on our page for Prospective Students and Parents.

Being a Rights Respecting School

Les Varendes High School and Sixth Form Centre is a school where children’s rights are at the heart of our ethos and culture, to improve well being and to develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential.  As part of this plan we are working towards recognition as a ‘Rights Respecting School’, an award given to schools on behalf of Unicef UK.

A Rights Respecting School models rights and respect in all its relationships, and our students are learning about their rights by putting them into practice every day.

If you experience bullying in any form,  please complete the form for your Year group. Concerns will be dealt with discreetly and sensitively.
