Every day counts when it comes to a child’s education. Consistent school attendance is one of the most important factors in helping students succeed – academically, socially and emotionally. Each day of learning builds on the last, and when children miss school, they miss opportunities to grow, connect and achieve their full potential.
By making attendance a priority, we can work together with you to set students on the path to lifelong success.
More information on school attendance can be found here.
Please let us know if your child is unable to attend for any reason by telephoning the school office on 226571 or emailing LVH.office@education.gg before 9.00 am on the first and any subsequent days of absence. Students who arrive after 8.30am should sign in at Reception.
If your child becomes ill during the school day, they must report to Reception. A decision will be made by the staff if the student needs to be collected and go home.
Diarrhoea and vomiting – in these cases, a person must be symptom-free for 48 hours before they return to school.
Holidays
Parents and carers are advised that family holidays taken in term time can have a serious impact on learning, progress and wellbeing. In accordance with the Island Attendance Policy, absences for the purposes of holiday will be unauthorised. Requests should be made to the Principal by emailing the school office. Please allow as much notice as possible and at least two weeks for any known intended absence.
Other Absences
Any other absence must also be reported by parents/carers and will be recorded accurately.
