    Senior Prefects

These students make a valuable contribution to the school community by leading the student voice, support events and overseeing a range of clubs and activities.

All students are encouraged to apply for Prefect positions in Year 10. They are selected through a recruitment process that considers the opinions of peers, staff and the senior leadership team. The prefect term of office runs from May in Year 10, and lasts for one year.

    Meet our Senior Prefects

We asked our Senior Prefects to reflect on our school values.

    Anton on 'Ambition'

"To me, ambition means understanding the position you are in currently and thinking about how to reach not just the next step, but three steps after that. True ambition is creating the plan to reach your goal, rather than just hoping you will get there without action. Difficulties aren't a permanent hindrance as long as you still aspire and work towards your ideas. Ambition isn't just a bold dream, but rather the effort put in to achieve it."

    Holly on 'Respect'

"For me, respect means considering other people's thoughts and feelings, as well as listening to everyone's ideas. Respect is a shared mutual ground, where you accept people for who they are, no matter your differences. To make sure that respect is shared throughout the school, I will create positive relationships with all students and teachers while treating them exactly how I would like to be treated. This will hopefully create levels of respect for each other, creating a welcoming environment."

    Danielle on 'Responsibility'

"Responsibility in life means that you do the things expected of you when put in a situation or a given role. As an example, I am the eldest sibling. The responsibilities that are given to me as the oldest are to make sure that the kitchen is clean at night whenever my mum is sick, or to clean my room every day when I get home from school. Those are obligated duties that I have been given and that I am compelled to complete.  Fulfilling these obligations isn't just about doing a task; it's about building trust. By being responsible, I show others that I am a reliable and conscientious person."

    Molly on 'Resilience'

"For me, resilience is not just about “not giving up”, it’s about having the strength and passion and being able to use those two things to keep going, to keep trying, to make mistakes, to learn from them and to pick yourself up whenever it is hard or easy. I hope to bring more resilience to my school and to my peers, so they know they have the support to be resilient outside of school or during school. We should all keep trying hard and striving for the great we can all achieve, being resilient no matter the moment or problem we may face."

    Other Leadership Positions

Further leadership opportunities throughout the school include House Captains, Subject Prefects and Peer Mentors, as well as the SSAT award. This programme offers an innovative and formal way to champion and celebrate the leadership skills students develop in and out of school, requiring students to create a portfolio in which they gather evidence to showcase their skills.
